Announcements
On May 3, 2007, our beloved Margaret Blue passed from this earth into a higher life of service.

Margaret was a lifelong Catholic and a relatively recent, but true friend of the Liberal Catholic
Church.  More importantly, Margaret was a mother to a large and wonderful family.  True to
the message and example of Christ and the Blessed Mother, Margaret's maternal love and familial
concern extended well past the boundaries of blood relation, including many, many people who
felt truly welcomed in her home and heart.

I had the honor of spending time with a number of them at the home of Bryan, Cindy and
Isabella Blue, Margaret's son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, from whence Margaret's
bright and shining soul departed for the heavenly home to which we shall all return one day.

Funeral arrangements are pending.  Meanwhile, please remember Margaret Blue in your prayers.
Hold in loving thought her large and extended family, all of whom grieve at the passing of this
remarkable woman.  I also invite our clergy to include Margaret and her family in their next
regular celebration of the Holy Eucharist, as we will do this Sunday at St. Michael and All Angels
Liberal Catholic Cathedral in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Rest in the eternal grant unto Margaret Blue, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her.

In His Holy Name,

The Most Reverend Bennett D. D. Burke

                                                  Margaret Carrera Blue

On 3 May 2007, our beloved mother, sister, friend and "Nana" died after a courageous 10-year
battle with cancer.Margaret started her life's journey in 1943 in the small mining town of Ajo,
Arizona. She is the daughter of well-known Ajo citizens, Frances and Ignacio Carrera. Her father,
Ignacio, better known as "Nino the Great", was middleweight boxing champion of Arizona in the
'30's. After graduating from high school, Margaret married an Air Force airman by the name of
Victor Blue, who many Bluegrass fans will remember as the founder of KXCI radio's Bluegrass
show. Margaret and Victor raised 5 children while stationed in
France, Germany, Texas, and Tucson.

A lifelong community activist and selfless volunteer, Margaret was the co-founder of the Groves
Neighborhood Association, she taught Catechism, instructed Spanish, served as PTA President,
and was a Ballet Folklorico troop leader and costume designer for Lyons Elementary School. A
highly respected political leader, she was elected President of Democrats of Greater Tucson, and
was appointed Chair of the Citizen's Advisory Planning Committee by the Mayor of Tucson.

Margaret lived to serve others and loved nothing more than to see people happy. Her stamina,
even in the throes of severe pain, inspired countless friends, family and even her doctors. She was
a true warrior who fought incredible odds to stay alive; not for her but for her "babies". She is now
with Victor, the love of her life. Margaret, you will remain in our hearts forever. We love you. A
Rosary will be held May 12 at 5:00 PM followed by a Mass and Memorial service at 5:30 at the
Tohono Chul Park located at 7366 Paseo Del Norte. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
the American Cancer Society in Margaret's name
